Telefonica, one of Spain’s largest telecom operators, has decided to invest in Gamium, further boosting its metaverse push. The company will allocate an undisclosed amount of funds to this metaverse initiative through Wayra, the incubator’s innovation-based arm. The company is also collaborating with Meta to create a metaverse innovation center for startups.

Telefonica invests in Spanish Metaverse Gamium

Metaverse initiatives are becoming popular with companies and venture capitalists to invest in during this market downturn. Telefonica, one of the largest telecom companies in Spain, has announce It will boost its metaverse investments by supporting Gamium, a Spanish initiative for the virtual world. This Barcelona-based company has raised 1 million euros by selling land on its platform in just ten days, and is being announced as the first decentralized metaverse.

The investment, whose numbers have not been released, will be made through Wayra, Telefonica’s open innovation platform, which incubates technology-related projects. The Gamium metaverse will be available through 3D VR-based channels and, according to local reports, will also have an app, allowing users to create their own businesses and events in the metaverse until the end of creating an online economy on the platform.

Telefonica has been one of the most active companies when it comes to its interest in the metaverse and the technology associated with it.
